You can ask us to delete your data at any time, and we will do it. This page explains exactly how, depending on who you are.
If you are a merchant using Bamaja
Option A — delete from the dashboard. Once the merchant dashboard is released:
- Sign in to your merchant dashboardUse the account you created during onboarding.
- Open Settings, then AccountYou will find the data and account controls there.
- Choose "Disconnect business account"This immediately revokes the access token we hold and stops all message processing. Your phone number, Business Portfolio and WhatsApp Business Account stay yours.
- Choose "Delete account and data"Confirm when prompted. Export your conversation and order history first if you want to keep it.
Option B — email us. Write to privacy@nigeriafaces.com from the email address on the account, using the template below.
Option C — revoke from Meta directly. You can also remove our app's access from your own Meta Business Settings, under Business Integrations. This cuts our access immediately. Send us a deletion request as well if you want your stored data erased, since revoking access alone does not delete what we already hold.
If you are a customer who messaged a business
When you message a business that uses the platform, that business is the owner of your conversation. We only process it on their behalf.
- Ask the business directlyThe fastest route. Send them a message asking them to delete your conversation and any order records they hold.
- Or write to usEmail privacy@nigeriafaces.com with the business name and the phone number you messaged from. We will pass the request to that business and support them in carrying it out, and we will erase what we hold on our side.
Request template
Copy this into an email to privacy@nigeriafaces.com:
What gets deleted, and when
We acknowledge every request within 5 working days and complete it within 30 days, as the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 requires.
| Data | Timing |
|---|---|
| Access tokens and platform credentials | Revoked and erased immediately on disconnection. |
| Conversation history and message content | Erased within 30 days of a verified request. |
| Order and enquiry records | Erased within 30 days, unless the merchant must keep them for tax or legal reasons. |
| Merchant account, catalogue and settings | Erased within 30 days of a verified request. |
| Encrypted backups | Rotated out within a further 35 days. |
What we may have to keep
A small amount of data can survive a deletion request where the law requires it:
- Billing and tax records — Nigerian law requires these to be kept, currently for six years.
- Security and fraud records — minimal records of abuse or security incidents, kept to protect the platform.
- Records subject to a legal hold — where a dispute, investigation or court order applies.
Anything retained on these grounds is restricted from ordinary use and deleted once the obligation ends.
Verifying your identity
We will ask for enough information to be sure the request is genuine, so that nobody can delete someone else's data. Usually that means emailing from the address on the account, or confirming the phone number involved. We do not ask for copies of identity documents unless a request is unusual and we cannot verify it any other way.
